INTERVIEW

1. What prompted you to start selling on Etsy?

Origami is the inspiration by the nature, and transforms the natural beauty by using a piece of paper. I love origami since I was a child. At the same time I love simple and unique accessories to touch up my attire. Therefore I started making origami earrings and surprisingly my creations were loved by my friends and people I met on the street! So I checked out Etsy as the best venue to sell my origami earrings. I was so inspired by all the creative and wholehearted designers on Etsy!

2. What inspires you?

Well…I believe inspiration is everywhere! Not just me, I think all designers get inspiration when they simply walk down the street. Color, pattern, nature, music, film, etc inspire me! And when I check out new items created by Etsians, their beautiful work also gives me energy.

3. What is your favorite material to work with (and/or why)?

In the making of origami earrings, I make use of paper. I love to work with paper because there are many different kinds of them, either plain colored, patterned, textured and even gold embossed. Paper with different colors and textures can make a selection of jewelry, in the theme of elegance, simple, oriental, natural, gothic or any style to suit your outfits. Also, with the touch up of Swarovski crystals, gemstones and different findings, creativity is unlimited.

4. Any advice you have for new Etsy sellers?

Enjoy your work! I believe people make the best things when they really love to. And working hard is important, not just making your own work, but you have to work hard on advertising, and share your experience with others. We can always learn from each other.

5. What is your favorite thing about selling on Etsy?

I love all Etsy fellows. They are very helpful to give advice for newbies. I can always make more progress by their advice! Also, all Etsy fellows are wonderful designers who create so many beautiful masterpieces, which in turns inspire others! I would say, Etsy is always the best online marketplace for selling handmade items.
